This location is BEAUTIFUL!! This hotel is located right on Sairee Beach and goes for $20 a night and has some great reviews on trip advisor. It offerers dormitory rooms with personal linens and towels, and gender separate bathroom. To me this sounds like a really upscale Hostel, and the photos do it justice! (Free wifi is always an extra plus!!)
Activities:
Since the hotel has 2 pools and is beach front, we will have time to relax and hang out by the pool and try and get some of that thai sun, along with watching some gorgeous sunsets!
Snorkeling is supposed to be great on the island of Koh Nang Yuan, which is a small island right off the coast of Koh Tao, but has an entrance fee of 100 Baht/ person. The main reason we would go to Koh Nang Yuan is for the viewpoint hike which is supposed to be breathtaking. This island is supposed to be VERY touristy and have extremely inflated prices so I doubt we'd stay long. Looks like we will be going for the hike, and packing some cheap snacks in our day packs!
Renting a quad bike and exploring the island is another activity we could do whilst here! Koh Tao means "Turtle Island" "as the mountains can mimic the shape of a turtles silhouette." This is supper cool since it means that when taking a quad out you would have a fun day of going up and down dirt roads, hopefully leading us to another gorgeous view point! Getting a map and setting out on the day is one of my favourite forms of exploring.
Scuba diving is another great option of something to do while we're here. Although this is a more expensive activity, going for around $300 CAD, it's said to be a fantastic place to be able to get certified.
Food:
Local cheap eats are a backpackers paradise!! This island is full of cheap delicious food, and from what I have read, the fresh seafood is supposed to be rave worthy. YUMMMM I'm hungry just thinking about it!
Transportation:
We will be leaving on May 17th at 2:00pm getting picked up by a water boat at Mae Head Pier to take us to our next destination of Koh Phangan, arriving in at 3:30pm. The cost of this is $13.24 CAD each! When researching how to go about getting between the Islands, someone on trip advisor recommended Phuket Ferry, which after looking into is an awesome means of transportation for hoping between the islands.
